Ever Have One of Those Days?

Posted by KatMeyer

Tagged in: #Perfect10Diet

I've been unusually stressed about work and life lately.  Work is busy - which is good - but sometimes it's really hard to stay on top of everything, and today in particular has been a series of technical difficulties.

I write this from the gate at Tucson International Airport. My flight has been delayed. I am stuck here, waiting. I was up late working on a project for work. I screwed up my itinerary and had to buy a new ticket, the flight is delayed, I'm going to just barely make it in time for my workshop, and I've been on the phone with airlines and hotel reservation people for better part of the afternoon.

I'm this close to turning around and just going home. Giving up on the whole thing. But, I'm not going to.

Perfect10Diet TwitChat News

Tagged in: Untagged

Hi All:

Last week's #Perfect10Diet with Mollie Katzen was really fun and interesting. Mollie shared ideas for P10-compliant snack options, tips on where to find great organics, and lots of information on food. The #Perfect10Diet group offered a lot of good ideas of their own. (You can read the transcript from the conversation in its entirety by clicking here.)

One topic that came up during last week's #Perfect10Diet TwitChat was the use of supplements for the Perfect 10 Diet. Lots of us are seeking out supplements recommended in the book, and lots of us are looking for advice. SO - this Sunday's #Perfect10Diet topic will be...SUPPLEMENTS:

#Perfect10Diet TwitChat Tonight (Monday 2/15/10) with Guest, Mollie Katzen

Mollie Katzen headshotSo, I've been doing a bang up job with the diet for two weeks. I'm not seeing as much visible weight loss as some of our #Perfect10Diet compadres, but I think that's because I've been lax about portion sizes. Something I must work on! In spite of that,  my energy is definitely up, my skin is looking better, and I'm learning a heck of a lot about food and nutrition.

Biggest thing I'm learning is there is a LOT more to learn. Shopping for healthy food, and cooking in a healthy way -- that can seem overwhelming some days, and it's very tempting to just give it up and head for the nearest drive-thru. (DON'T!). Instead, join us tonight on Twitter at 8pm ET for a #Pefec10Diet TwitChat with our very special guest,  Mollie Katzen (@MollieKatzen).

If you don't know, Mollie is one of the best-selling cookbook authors of all time, a sought-after public speaker, an incredibly gifted designer, a charter member of the Harvard School of Public Health Nutrition Roundtable and an inaugural honoree of the Natural Health Hall of Fame. Not enough credentials for you? How about this: Since 2003, Mollie has been a consultant to Harvard University Dining Services, and co-creator of their new Food Literacy Project. She is also a culinary advisor to the University of California at Berkeley, a nationally syndicated columnist through the Chicago Tribune, and a contributing editor for Shape Magazine.

#Perfect10Diet - Our First TwitChat Was a Success!

Posted by KatMeyer

Tagged in: perfect 10 diet

Yes, I am happy to say that the inaugural #Perfect10Diet twitchat this past Sunday was great fun, and we all had a really good time sharing tips on exercise, diet dos and don'ts, and most of all FOOD (have already tried out a few of the recipes that were shared)! Still not sure if scheduling it at the same time as the SuperBowl helped, or hurt attendance, but the many of us who were participating in the chat, were keeping one eye on the game, too! We even got our own coupon code: TWEETBOWL. If you order a copy (or a few copies!) of The Perfect 10 Diet from the website, you can use the code "TWEETBOWL" to get a 20% discount. The offer is good through February 14th!

Tweets were flying fast and furiously from 8pm to 9pm ET, and the hour really went by in a flash. It was a great way to get to know our fellow (mostly sister, actually) dieters, hear what their experiences with P10 have been so far, and even encourage a few visitors to give it a try. Why, we even had a visit from the fantastic Mollie Katzen (whose cookbooks fit right in line with the P10 way of eating).

Lots of very good news coming from the frontlines -- Kirsten Hamstra (@kirsten) and Laura Dawson (@LJNDawson) reporting feeling much more energetic and already losing pounds. Dominique Raccah (@DRaccah) is well on her way to a very happy wedding anniversary celebration -- she'll be sporting her skinny jeans! And it was wonderful to hear that Kalen Landow (@Kalenski) is having no trouble at all making the diet work within the parameters of her food allergies.

I'm All a-Twitter About Perfect 10!

Posted by KatMeyer

Tagged in: Untagged

twitter birdHello Perfect Tensters! Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kat Meyer. I am a bookish type chick who found out about Perfect 10 (hereafter to be referred to as P10) from Dominique Raccah -- the fantastic woman behind Sourcebooks, and a big reason why Perfect10Diet has found its way into the world.

In a nutshell, Dom has become a walking, talking, very living billboard for P10. When I ran into her at PubWest (a book publishing conference) in Tucson this past November, she was radiating a glow of health and energy - and not the frenetic, busy energy she usually radiates. This was a completely different kind of energy. Dare I use a new-agey term like "centered?" I'm going to. She piqued my interest - as well as the interest of a whole table of publishing chicks, all of whom have been feeling rather short on energy these days.

So, that is how Dominique hipped me to The Perfect 10 Diet. And, perhaps because I've been babbling on Twitter for well over a year now about how I "really need to lose 40 pounds before the next publishing conference," but have never taken the steps to actually DO IT, Dominique presented me with a very cool opportunity. She subtly suggested (as our mutual bookish friend, Kassia Krozser has commented, there really is no elegant way to ask someone if they'd like to go on a diet) I might make a good guinea pig for the diet, and I might be a good organizer for a Twitter-based P10 diet support group. She had me at guinea pig.
